Die vatikanische Bischofskongregation hat für den 17. bis 19. Februar 2022 ein Symposium "Toward a Fundamental Theology of the Priesthood" angekündigt.

Wir sind Kirche International betrachtet das geplante Symposium als einen vergeblichen Versuch, das Priestertum als einen für zölibatäre Männer reservierten Sockel zu bestätigen. Ein seriöses Symposium würde aufzeigen:
 
- Das Ende der Überlegenheit des Klerikerstandes gegenüber dem niederen Laienstand
- Das Ende des Ausschlusses von Frauen
- Das Ende des Ausschlusses von verheirateten Personen
- Das Ende des Ausschlusses von LGBTQ-Personen
 
Wir hoffen, dass Papst Franziskus Kardinal Marc Ouellet dazu bewegen wird, einige dieser vier Höhepunkte zu setzen.

Symposium seeks to confirm celibate male priesthood

The Vatican’s Congregation for Bishops has announced a Symposium “Toward a Fundamental Theology of the Priesthood” for 17 – 19 February 2022.

We Are Church International regards the planned Symposium as a futile attempt to confirm the priesthood as a pedestal reserved for celibate males. A serious Symposium would highlight:

- The end of the superior clerical status compared to the lower lay status
- The end of the exclusion of women
- The end of the exclusion of married persons
- The end of the exclusion of LGBTQ persons

We hope that Pope Francis will persuade Cardinal Marc Ouellet to deliver some of these four highlights.
